摘要

In the work that is being presented here, an effort has been carried out to produce Al6063–zirconium silicate composites by employing the stir casting process. The concentration of zirconium silicate particles was increased by increments of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%, respectively. The microstructural studies of the produced composites were conducted using optical microscope instrument. Additionally, the compression strength and impact strength of the developed composites were assessed. The existence of zirconium silicate is demonstrated by the XRD spectrum of the aluminium–zirconium silicate composite. From the optical microscope studies of the developed composites, it was found that the zirconium silicate particles were seen at a concentration of 6% and were evenly dispersed throughout the Al6063 aluminium matrix. When composites were measured against unreinforced Al6063, it was discovered that the compression strength and impact strength characteristics of composites were significantly superior. In addition, increasing the integration of zirconium silicate led to further increases in the compression strength and impact strength values, with 6% zirconium silicate yielding the best results. The developed composites are used in automotive components such as connecting rods, pistons, piston rings, and brake drums.
