Combined Influence of Couple Stress Lubricant and Surface Roughness on Hole Entry Journal Bearing
摘要
The bearing is a machine element which not only supports the rotating element but also provides the relative motion. The bearing which bears the external load perpendicular to its axis is called journal bearing. The hybrid journal bearings are high in demand and high speed industrial applications due to its higher load carrying capacity and lower coefficient of friction. The combined effect of surface roughness and couple stress lubricant on hole-entry type hybrid journal bearing having constant flow valve restrictor has been determined in the current paper. The resulting Reynolds equation considering roughness and couple force lubricants has been determined using the Finite Element Method. Effect of a parameter of coupled stress and patterns of surface roughness of journal type bearing has been shown for the external load. The outcomes point out that the values of rotordynamic coefficients increase significantly for a couple of stress lubricated bearing having longitudinal pattern of roughness pattern than smooth bearing using Newtonian fluid.
