Evolving to a Conceptual Model of Critical Success Factors in Successful ERP Implementation for Manufacturing Units in India

The present research outlines an empirical study investigating the factors influencing the usage of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their subsequent impact on end-users. The widespread adoption of ERP systems by organizations globally aims to integrate various business functions, enhance operational efficiency, and improve decision-making. However, the successful realization of these benefits heavily relies on the effective utilization of the system by its end-users. Recognizing ERP systems as pivotal for maintaining competitiveness in the global market, the study developed a conceptual framework to assess the influence of strategic, organizational, technological, and environmental parameters on ERP applications and their effects on end users. This study employs a quantitative research approach, utilizing survey data collected from end-users across various organizations of the manufacturing sectors in India that have implemented ERP systems. The research identifies and analyzes key factors hypothesized to influence ERP usage. These factors include, but are not limited to, business planning and execution strategy, innovation and sustainable strategy, rationale and research-based decision making, technology innovation & implementation, energy restoration and green supply chain. This analysis facilitated the creation of the SOTE (Strategic, Organizational, Technological, and Environmental) model. It consists of ten factors that have been identified as Critical Success Factors (CSFs) that can help managers create sustainable business models (SBMs) for the manufacturing industry in India. Through tackling the complex issues related to ERP deployment, this study offers a strong foundation for attaining sustained prosperity in the fiercely competitive Indian manufacturing market. In order to ensure the ongoing growth and competitiveness of their companies, managers can use the suggested SOTE model as a useful tool to create and maintain sustainable business models. It will also contribute to the existing body of literature on information systems adoption and post-implementation success, particularly from an end-user perspective.
