<p>This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food supply chains worldwide, with a particular focus on India, and proposes the creation of a resilience network to address disruptions. The purpose of this analysis is to enhance understanding of the challenges faced by India’s food supply chain during the pandemic and underscore the importance of building a sustainable and resilient food system that benefits both India and global food security. By identifying the key factors that affect the sustainability of India’s food supply chain, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders. The study uses the Decision-making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) approach to examine the connections between different issues in the supply chain. The results demonstrate that the most significant difficulty is demand volatility (DEV), followed closely by input material trade (RAI) scarcity. The finding suggests that inconsistent material supply and maintenance (CMS) is the difficulty that most strongly correlates with other aspects. The numerical findings reveal that demand volatility (DEV) had the highest total relation value (<InlineEquation ID="IEq1"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\(\:Ri\:+\:Ci\:=\:3.14\)</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>), indicating its central role as a disruptive driver, while labor availability (RAL) exhibited the highest net cause value (<InlineEquation ID="IEq2"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\(\:Ri\:-\:Ci\:=\:+1.82\)</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>), signifying its dominant influence on the system. The study highlights digital infrastructure (DIT) and inconsistent material supply and maintenance (CMS) had high dependency values, reflecting their vulnerability to other disruptions. These results demonstrate that the most critical and interconnected disruptions involve demand fluctuations, material shortages, and labor-related bottlenecks. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of prioritizing causal factors such as DEV, INC (increased cost), and RAL when designing targeted mitigation strategies. These insights are essential for developing data-driven policy interventions, agile supply chain planning models, and future-oriented resilience frameworks.</p>
