Crosstalk Analysis of Few Mode Multi Core Fiber Using Selective Mode Launch
摘要
This paper describes the crosstalk analysis of standard cladding size Few Mode Multi Core Fiber (FM-MCF) using selective mode launch. Two designs of trench-assisted heterogeneous FM-MCF are presented in this paper. The first design consists of two cores and each core supports three modes, whereas in the second design six modes are supported in each core. The inter core coupling tendency with respect to the trench parameters and fiber refractive indices are analyzed for lower order three modes in both the fiber profiles using simulation tool. Significant reduction in inter core mode coupling strength is achieved through the use of selective modes in the six mode fiber design. Moreover the impact of selective mode launch is more significant with increase in the size of trench region and refractive index contrast and with decrease in trench index. The significance of selective mode launch in FM-MCF is also verified by comparing the effective mode area and mode confinement for both designs.
