Design a High Frequency Power Inverter Using Ferrite-Core Transformer for Ohmic Heating of Liquid Conducting System

摘要

To minimize the corrosion of electrodes in ohmic heating a variable high frequency power source instead of commercial frequency (50/60 Hz) is being proposed here. This variable frequency power source is not readily available in market as commercial inverter is normally designed for a particular frequency. So a novel high-frequency power inverter with a variable frequency provision has been developed using ferrite core transformer, solid state components and power switches such as MOSFETs are used for heating a liquid non-linear load-resistance (R) of liquid-food conducting material in the laboratory. A PWM IC LM3524 has been applied for development of driver for controlling the MOSFET-inverter. A totem pole circuit is used to speed up the turning off process of inverter-MOSFETs which finally reduces switching losses at higher frequency. It has been found that corrosion phenomenon of electrode in ohmic heating for liquid conductor would reduce greatly with increasing frequency of power inverter.
