摘要

Existing building stock in most of the developing countries is ageing and deficient in terms of seismic and energy performance. Retrofitting interventions are required to upgrade the seismic and energy performance of these existing buildings. Employing separate measures for seismic and energy retrofitting can be cumbersome and ineffective both in terms of cost and efficiency. It may be possible that the proposed individual performance measure may have an adverse effect on the other. To address these concerns, researchers have come up with the idea of integrated seismic and energy retrofitting of buildings which employ measures which can enhance the seismic and energy performance of the buildings simultaneously. A large number of frameworks have been proposed for integrated seismic and energy performance assessment of building. Application of these frameworks through case studies have been demonstrated for buildings mostly located in heating dominated European climatic region while the efficacy for the tropical climatic region still remains unexplored. The present study aims to propose a framework for integrated seismic and energy performance assessment of buildings in cooling dominated Indian tropical climatic region. A case study for two major global retrofitting technique is also presented for a residential building.
