Comparative Analysis of Phytochemical Composition and Bioactivities of Leaf and Whole Plant Extracts of Persicaria capitata
摘要
Persicaria capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D. Don) H. Gross is a medicinal plant known for its therapeutic potential. This study evaluated the phytochemical composition, antioxidant activity, and antibacterial properties of acetone extracts from the whole plant (AWS) and leaves (ALS). ALS showed higher phenolic content and stronger antioxidant activity, whereas AWS contained higher flavonoid and tannin contents. Both extracts exhibited antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The observed bioactivities may be associated with the presence of phenolics, flavonoids, and tannins. These findings support previous studies on medicinal plants with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties and highlight the potential of P. capitata as a natural source of bioactive compounds for therapeutic applications.
