<p>Cornelian cherry (<i>Cornus mas</i> L.) is a valuable medicinal plant with a high level of antioxidants, anthocyanins, and phenolic compounds. This study was evaluated the effects of plant growth regulators on the shoot proliferation and rooting of Iranian <i>C. mas</i>. We used the woody plant medium (WPM) and Murashige and Skoog (MS) media, fortified with N6-benzyl amino purine (BAP) at four concentrations (0, 1, 2, and 3 mg l<sup>−1</sup>) in composition with 0, 0.25, and 0.5 mg l<sup>−1</sup> kinetin (Kin), and fixed 0.5 mg l<sup>−1</sup> gibberellic acid (GA3) and 0.1 mg l<sup>−1</sup> naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) for establishment and proliferation. For rooting, indol-3-butyric acid (IBA) was used in three levels (0, 1, and 2 mg l<sup>−1</sup>) combined with 0, 0.25, and 0.50 mg l<sup>−1</sup> NAA in ½MS and ½WPM media. Results showed that the highest establishment percentage (100%) was observed in WPM medium containing 3 mg l<sup>−1</sup> BAP and 0.5 mg l<sup>−1</sup> Kin. The highest proliferation (9.27) was achieved in WPM medium at 3 mg l<sup>−1</sup> BAP, 0.25 mg l<sup>−1</sup> Kin, and 0.5 mg l<sup>−1</sup> GA3 and NAA. The best shoot elongation (4.83 cm) was also attained in WPM medium at 1 mg l<sup>−1</sup> BAP and 0.25 mg l<sup>−1</sup> Kin. The highest rooting rate of 85% was obtained using ½MS medium comprising 0.5 mg l<sup>−1</sup> NAA and 1.0 mg l<sup>−1</sup> IBA. In conclusion, an efficient micropropagation procedure with an improved rate of proliferation and rooting was achieved for&#xa0;selected Iranian native <i>C. mas</i>, which can be used for mass reproduction.</p>
