摘要

More than 500 million people suffer from amyloid-related diseases. Food supplements that are rich in polyphenolic compounds can help prevent these diseases. Ruby by Flavon dietary supplement was made from black chokeberry, black currant, pomegranate, cherry, sour cherry and sea buckthorn, which are rich in important polyphenolics. Such compounds include neochlorogenic acid and quercetin 3-β-O-glucoside. The main objective of the study was to investigate the ability of neochlorogenic acid, quercetin 3-β-O-glucoside and the dietary supplement Ruby by Flavon to prevent the formation of α-chymotrypsin amyloid fibrils in aqueous ethanol at neutral pH. The aggregation and α-chymotrypsin amyloid formation was studied by turbidity measurements at 350 nm and Congo red binding assays. Our experiments demonstrated that Ruby by Flavon is a potent anti-amyloidogenic agent in vitro, as are neochlorogenic acid and quercetin 3-β-O-glucoside. Our results proved that neochlorogenic acid, quercetin 3-β-O-glucoside and Ruby by Flavon dietary supplement are efficient in inhibiting α-chymotrypsin aggregation and amyloid fibril formation.
