Single Crystal Growth and Characterization of Semi-Organic L-Phenylalanine Barium Chloride via Slow Evaporation Method
摘要
Semi-organic L-Phenylalanine barium chloride (LPBC) single crystals were grown from aqueous solution using the slow evaporation solution method. The lattice parameters of the grown crystal were analyzed using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and the crystalline structure was determined using powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The functional groups present in the crystal were identified by Fourier transform infrared analysis (FTIR). An optical absorption study was performed using UV visible spectroscopy. UV-Visible studies showed a lower cut-off wavelength of 236 nm and a wide band gap energy in the range of 5.25 to 5.6 eV, indicating high transparency in the visible region. The surface morphology of the grown crystal has been studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and chemical etching study were carried out to analyze the surface nature of the crystal. Thermal analysis showed that the crystal remains stable up to 204.96 °C.
