Existence of Sustained Oscillations in Continuous-Time Stable and Unstable Systems with Time Delay
摘要
This paper presents a relay feedback analysis for a class of linear time delay single-input single-output (SISO) systems. From a single relay feedback test, sufficient and necessary conditions for existence and uniqueness of sustained oscillations in continuous-time stable and unstable first order plus time delay (FOPTD) transfer function models are established and guidelines for analyzing the linear time invariant (LTI) systems exhibiting stable, unstable second order and integrating FOPTD dynamics are well illustrated. To ensure the global existence and stability of sustained oscillations, a set of mathematical conditions is deduced by utilizing the Poincaré Bendixson criterion. Numerical simulations of benchmark examples are considered from the literature to validate the proposed theoretical analysis.
