<p>With lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) powering millions of EVs globally, LIBs have become the industry standard for energy storage in EVs. Due to the complexity of this system, a thorough investigation into every aspect of LIBs and EVs is required. This study explores the future directions and hotspots of LIB research in the EV domain in order to obtain insights into the changing research landscape. The SCI-Expanded database in the Web of Science and Scopus Core Collection, which includes 12,149 articles and reviews published between 2000 and Nov. 2024, was used to perform a bibliometric analysis. The complex web of research collaborations and knowledge flows was mapped using data visualisation tools like CiteSpace and VOSviewer. In addition to identifying important contributing nations, organisations, and writers, this analysis dives into publication trends over time and examines how research themes and significant publications have changed over time. Researchers looking to advance LIB technology for EV applications will find the study's findings to be a useful resource.</p>
