<p>In this study, we report a new record of <i>Kani maranjandu</i> for the first time from the central Western Ghats (Agumbe, Karnataka), indicating a significant northward range extension (~ 566&#xa0;km) from its previously known distribution in Kerala. We also document the species’ possible ground-dwelling behavior, which has not been recorded before. Additionally, we emphasize the need for further surveys to assess its ecology and conservation status.</p>
