摘要

The black-tipped Andaman snake eel, Ophichthus mccoskeri is documented for the first time from the Arabian Sea (n = 1; 424 mm TL). The specimen was collected from the bycatch of deep-sea shrimp trawlers operated off Kollam at a depth of 250–420 m. The species was previously recorded from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The present study provides a detailed taxonomic identification along with a molecular signature and information on the range extension of the species along the southeastern Arabian Sea.
