First Report of Kyphosis in Nilssonia hurum (Gray, 1831) (Reptilia: Testudines: Trionychidae) in India with Notes on the Morphology of a Juvenile
摘要
Kyphosis is a rare case of developmental anomaly and such a condition is very rare in the turtle family Trionychidae. From India, there is only one reported case of kyphosis in the Indian flap shell turtle, Lissemys punctata (Bonnaterre), and herewith we report kyphosis for the first time in the peacock softshell turtle, Nilssonia hurum (Gray), in a wild-caught individual rescued from a waterbody in Mayurbhanj district of North Odisha, India. We also provided morphological characters for a juvenile specimen rescued from the Budhabalanga River in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, India.
