First Record of Prorocentrum Gracile Bloom in the Southeastern Arabian Sea: Ecological Insights and Implications
摘要
The present investigation reports the first observation of a bloom of the dinoflagellate Prorocentrum gracile (P. gracile) in the Kochi coastal waters, Southeastern Arabian Sea. The bloom density was enumerated as 1.75 × 105 cells L−1. Temperature, salinity, and phosphorous may play a major role in influencing the distribution and proliferation of P. gracile. This study establishes a baseline for future studies aimed at elucidating the distribution and ecological consequences of P. gracile blooms.
