<p>The transformation of the Agri-system in India is posturing a new way of resource allocation. Maize is one such crop that takes attention of stakeholders because of its potential in terms of food, nutrition and energy security. The successful adoption of this crop needs better price support, wherein the market's role is crucial. In this study, the existing market structures and their differential role in price realization are estimated, and how the beneficial markets can be further enabled to benefit farmer's income is examined. Results indicated that, on an average farmer can earn an additional amount of ₹. 3776.80 and ₹. 4626.58 per tonne of maize sold if he prefers a regulated market and high-value market, respectively, over the informal markets. Enabling access to emerging modern markets by engaging farmers more in formal training to create a high degree of value exchange is beneficial for farmers to get a better price.</p>
