Pug Head Deformity in Sciaenids: First Report in Johnius borneensis and Johnius dussumieri

During sampling for a taxonomic study along the Indian coast, two deformed specimens of croaker were collected from the Maharashtra region of India. The morphometric characters for deformed and normal specimens were compared herein. In both specimens, the parasphenoid and vomer of the neurocranium were deformed, and level of the deformity was different in the two specimens. This article presents the first report of pug head deformity in Johnius borneensis and Johnius dussumieri, respectively.
