Enriching Mantodea Repertoire of Tamil Nadu, India: Diversity Enrichment and Morphological Insights

Four species of praying mantids representing three families of Mantodea have been reported for the first time in Tamil Nadu, India. The species included Aethalochroa simplicipes Wood-Mason, 1877, Cheddikulama straminea Henry, 1932, Creobroter pictipennis Wood-Mason, 1878, Statilia maculata Thunberg, 1784. This significant discovery enriches our understanding of the mantid diversity in the region. Detailed collection notes along with diagnosis and pictorial illustrations, accompany the report, providing valuable insights into the morphology and distribution of the newly recorded species in Tamil Nadu.
