The Histochemical Expression Portfolio of the Aphid Resistant Genes, PAD4 and MPL1 in below Ground Tissue in Arabidopsis Thaliana

The Arabidopsis thaliana-Myzus persicae interaction is highly explored as a model from different perspectives like molecular, genetic, histochemical, and biochemical approaches for advancement on host-aphid interaction knowledge. The aphid infestation is a highly relevant researchable issue for protection of agricultural and horticulture crops. Several aphid infestation inductive genes for example Arabidopsis thaliana PHYTOALEXIN DEFICIENT 4 (PAD4), and MYZUS PERSICAE INDUCED LIPASE1 (MPL1) are involved in aphid resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana through gene expression on foliage. The expression of these two genes in below tissue have until now been unexplored. Thus, the objective of the present report was to monitor whether aphid resistance genes were expressed below ground or not. From the present experiment, it was found that the foliage expressing aphid resistance genes, PAD4, and MPL1 were also expressed in the below ground tissue, monitored through histochemical study. The gene expression in below ground tissue is vascular and this understanding may integrate and broaden the evaluation of plant-aphid interaction biology. Thus, aphid responsive gene expression was also expressed in below ground tissue and opened a new avenue in plant-aphid interaction biology like gene expression on foliage interaction upon aphid herbivore. Thus, it is suggested that above and below ground genes expression consideration might advance on plant-aphid interaction biology in an integrated way with broader vision.
