<p>This article proposes Actor-Network Theory (ANT) as an approach to the field of Open Educational Resources (OER). ANT allows us to understand OER as actors within a&#xa0;broader network, overcoming the distinction between technology (e.g. e‑learning tools and technical infrastructures for learning materials) and people (e.g. teachers, students and advisory staff). The article aims to develop perspectives for researching the creation, use and dissemination of OER. First, it establishes the applicability of ANT to OER research. It then examines several actors in the OER field and identifies moments of translation. Methodological approaches to an ANT-based understanding of OER are also presented. Finally, the article offers a&#xa0;critical perspective that addresses the nature of the underlying concept of education.</p>
