Gibt es einen Inter*-Neglect?
摘要
Gender encompasses different levels, including sex, which is traditionally categorised as male and female. Differences of sex development are usually subsumed under the term intersex (short: inter*). Education about inter* belongs is part of various areas of education, which is provided by educational professionals, but can also be (additionally) realised through information materials. Based on a criteria-led selection of free information materials on sex and gender diversity from nationwide stakeholders, the relevance of inter* was analysed using a deductive quantitative content analysis. Based on N = 32 information materials, it was found that inter* is mentioned very often, but inter*-related terms occur less frequently than trans*(gender)-related terms. In addition, it was found that variations in sex are addressed much less frequently in the information materials compared to gender identity. Overall, a relative inter* neglect, a relative omission or demthematization of inter* in favour of a focus on gender identities, can be observed.
