In the discussion of the three basic dimensions of teaching quality, in addition to the economical systematics, empirical foundation and generic characteristics, the solid theoretical foundation of the model is emphasised and the study book “Theorie der Schule” (Diederich & Tenorth, 1997) is used as an theoretical background from educational science. This article asks and discusses which explanations and aspects are used in order to gain an theoretical foundation of the model and how, and whether they offer a theoretical basis from educational science.
