<p>The extreme precipitation events of recent years pose major challenges for dam management. The floods of 2021 have shown that it is necessary to deal with precipitation volumes for which the reservoirs were not designed when they were built. The dry years of 2018 to 2020 also pushed the reservoirs to their system limits in terms of low water elevation. With these findings, operating rules must be adapted and the possibilities in the existing technical system of the reservoirs must be utilized.</p>

The extreme precipitation events of recent years pose major challenges for dam management.
