<p>In Bad Oeynhausen, a city affected by water shortages, increasing droughts intensify conflicts over drinking water resources. Exploring alternative water sources can help mitigate these conflicts, such as the reuse of treated wastewater. The ongoing research project “DigiWaVe” aims to implement wastewater reuse for urban irrigation, using digital and AI-driven control tools for efficient water management. A reclaimed water pipeline to the city center is planned. However, legal requirements for construction and use remain unclear. Stakeholder discussions are underway to address concerns, minimize risks, and enhance acceptance.</p>
