<p>This study combines functional habitat dynamics with larval drift and population dynamics models to evaluate restoration measures in a section of the lower Inn River (Bavaria, Germany). The improved availability of spawning and nursery habitats for gravel-spawning species leads to a predicted increase in recruitment per species by an average of 14.9 individuals/ha (7.3 chub/ha to 27.3 grayling/ha). However, habitat availability remains limited and only 33 % of all existing nursery habitats are usable due to a lack of functional connectivity. </p>
