Fischschädigung durch Turbinen: Modellierung auf Populationsniveau

Using age-class-based population modelling, annual and long-term effects of turbine-induced damage (barotrauma, blade strike) on populations of typical European river fish species (grayling, chub, barbel, perch, and nase) were investigated to evaluate the effects of different protective and compensatory measures. The annual potential damage to adult fish populations ranged between 2.7-6.1 % (grayling), 2.4-5.5 % (chub), 2.4-5.6 % (barbel), 0.04-0.41 % (perch) and 3.1-7.0 % (nase) with a calculated annual decrease in total biomass between 0.04-6.7 %. Mechanical barriers with different bar widths were unable to fully compensate for the mortality-related population reduction, which only was possible by improving the survival of eggs, larvae, and juveniles.
