Systemauslegung des modifizierten Denil-Passes für die Passage des Bemessungsfisches auf Basis empirischer Erkenntnisse

The basis for the system design of pool-type fish ladders is the assumption that a fish requires a corridor of at least three times the fish width in narrow passages. In the present investigations, it was tested for salmonids whether this design approach can also be used as a dimensioning basis for the Modified Denil-fishway in relation to the baffel geometry. For this purpose, video-based test series were carried out in which the swimming behaviour was recorded and interpreted. The investigations were carried out with brown trout, lake trout and danube salmon, the majority of whose body widths were well above the design criterion. This made it possible to document the ascent of individuals with a body width of up to 60 % of the baffel section. In the course of the investigations, 100 % of the trout and 50 % of the danube salmon were able to use the fishway for passage without any problems during the short observation period of 1.5 days. Around 40 % of the ascending individuals were also observed on their descent. The findings were supplemented by data from video and fish trap monitoring and interpreted accordingly. As a result, it was found that the 3-fold fish width approach is also a practicable tool for dimensioning the Modified Denil-fishway.
