<p>Since the beginning of the 1990s the State Reservoir Administration of Saxony (Landestalsperrenverwaltung Sachsen LTV) optimizes the water reservoir management. So operating plans, which were used before 1990, have adjusted, supply reliability of raw water and values for minimum releases to the riverbeds downstream have increased. Further the volumes of the reservoir zones for water quality, normal storage and flood retention have optimized dependently. Following the flood event in august 2002 hydrological expertise of the reservoir inflows were significantly revised and flood retention volumes in the water reservoirs were adjusted as a result. The LTV carried out studies on the supply of raw water for different uses, under consideration of supply reliability and on design flood inflow for itself, so that all requirements for water quantity and water quality management could be adequately considered.</p>
