<p>The Hillebach Reservoir in Niedersfeld (NRW) holds 365 000 m<sup>3</sup> and has a 13.4 m earthen dam. Despite its small size, a dam breach could cause significant downstream damage. Six scenarios (sudden and progressive breaches) were simulated over 8 km under varying Ruhr River conditions (MQ und HQ<sub>1 000</sub>). Results show the flood wave reaches the furthest point in 26 minutes, with depths up to 8.6 m in the worst case. The study highlights dam breach risks, their relevance to disaster planning, and the need for mandatory analyses under DIN 19 700.</p>
