Current ethohydraulic studies focus primarily on flow velocity, largely because it is the only flow parameter for which hydraulic-reactive thresholds are widely published. However, fish biological flow sensing is also sensitive to acceleration, pressure, and shear. In this work, we investigate the use of pressure and its gradients, which can provide valuable insights into flow perception, using an innovative bioinspired measurement system. Specifically, we show how fish-shaped Fish Sensory Sondes (FSS) can be implemented for various fish species and body lengths, including their performance at an angled rack.
