The Saxony state dam administration LTV has been operating the automated Brischko weir for flow regulation between the old course of the Black Elster and the Wudra flood basin since 2014. After the weir was completed, the discharge distribution was subsequently analysed using a 2D HN model. The analysis revealed a lowering of the water level in the weir inlet caused by an alternating jump in the upstream unsecured inlet area. In order to prevent scouring, several measures to optimise the area were modelled and later implemented.
