摘要

The Saidenbach barrage is located south-east of Chemnitz and is the 4th highest barrage in Saxony, Germany (58,5 m high). Its primary task is the fresh water supply of Chemnitz. To ensure its functionality and structural safety the barrage is examined regularly using various methods. Of utmost importance is a screening for cracks within the main structure in a 10 year interval. Specially trained experts were tasked with a thorough hands-on inspection of the entire structure based on DIN 1 076. The air-side face was inspected by authorized climbers while scientific divers mapped the entire water-side face and documented any damage. The division into transects helped to analyse the dam systematically and to assess the complex structure in its entirety. The collected data was merged into one digital model which shows the damages and their characteristics. Finally, the results were published in a structure condition report (ZIS-Ing-Bau) to propose measures for repair and maintenance.
