Die Entwicklung eines neuen fischschonenden Turbinentyps

Fish protection and the reduction of mortality rates during turbine passage are becoming increasingly important. Based on the latest findings, a new type of turbine was developed that fulfils all the requirements of a fish-friendly design as far as possible. The turbine type was optimised using numerical simulation and tested in a model experiment. The results show similarly good operating behaviour and comparable efficiency to Kaplan turbines. The installation of a first prototype near St. Pölten/Austria has been running smoothly since commissioning and has confirmed the findings from the model test.
