The implementation of European Water Framework Directive (WFD) is an ongoing task for water management. Also WFD leads to technical and economical challenges for operators of transverse structures. In order to overcome complex migration obstacles, the Free State of Bavaria and its department of the Environment have set themselves the task of further developing innovative fish migration systems. Therefore, the state-owned Bayerische Landeskraftwerke GmbH is planning, building and operating innovative fish bypasses.
