Practical control specifications are necessary for effective flood mitigation through the adapted operation of barrages and flood polders. For a large catchment area with a complex flood genesis - such as the Inn in Bavaria investigated here - their development and evaluation with suitable simulation tools and analyses of operationally available input data is essential. The simulation results obtained in this way illustrate the applicability of the control regulations and their usability for flood mitigation.
