摘要

In addition to classical instrumentation, camera-based methods are more and more frequently used in hydraulic research. Besides the determination of flow velocities, these methods allow for the detection of the free water surface or the temporal evolution of scouring processes. High spatial and temporal resolutions of the newest camera sensors give new insights into turbulent, complex flows. In practice, these methods can also provide important data with low technical effort. Subsequently, different Computer Vision techniques, originally developed for automatic recognition of image features, are introduced. Selected applications to selected hydraulic engineering problems are proposed and discussed.
