Technische Anforderungen zur Dammpflege unter dem Aspekt der Anlagensicherheit

Large weirs and associated dams designed for flood events of a hundred respectively a thousand-year recurrence have an considerable significance in regard with technical flood risk management systems. Planning, construction and maintenance of dams becomes importance far in excess of regular functions of weirs like river regulation, hydropower generation or navigation. Because Dams usually being covered by natural grass sods, protecting them against erosion and physical impacts, interests, issues and legal regulations related to nature and species conservation have to be taken into account for maintenance and development of dam embankments and should be respected if conditional with normative regulations and comparativeness by dam responsibilities. This article tries to explain, where and in which way maintenance and development of dam embankments could match both, technical and ecological requirements.
