This article explores the importance of sustainable sediment management in reservoirs to address the growing issue of sedimentation. Conventional methods, such as dredging and flushing, have proven inadequate, leading to sediment deficits and environmental hazards. To overcome these challenges, the ConSedTrans technology with the innovative SediMover platform is introduced. This approach enables controlled sediment transport, ensuring the sediment deficit is restored downstream while safeguarding the river ecology. A successful pilot project in Italy demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of ConSedTrans, providing valuable insights for further advancements in sustainable sediment removal techniques.
