Kompetenzen für den vorbeugenden Rettungsdienst: Grundlagen für ein bundeseinheitliches Bachelor-Curriculum
摘要
Increasing numbers of emergency calls, demographic changes and the growing use of emergency medical services for nonlife-threatening conditions underscore the need for preventive treatment approaches in out-of-hospital acute and emergency care. During the 1st Deggendorf workshop on academic education in out-of-hospital acute and emergency care, participants discussed which additional competencies and qualification profiles are required for academically qualified community paramedics in Germany.
MethodsA total of 24 experts from emergency medical providers, academia and professional associations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland defined the foundations and requirements for a nationwide standardized bachelor’s curriculum for community paramedics in preventive emergency medical providers, including relevant competency profiles and educational contents.
ResultsAs a result two complementary subcurricula for competence acquisition within study programs in patient care for community paramedics in Germany were developed, covering both research and development as well as patient care.
DiscussionA nationwide standardized competence profile can contribute to the further professionalization of emergency medical providers and improve patient safety in out-of-hospital acute and emergency care. It provides a basis for the medico-legal definition of the professional role of academically qualified community paramedics in preventive emergency medical providers.
