摘要

Background

This mixed-methods study investigated the implementation of delirium screening from the perspective of 14 nursing personnel. The normalization process theory (NPT) served as the theoretical framework.

Results

Individual understanding (coherence: M = 3.84) and engagement (cognitive participation: M = 4.05) were high. The biggest barrier was collective action (M = 3.38), hindered by a lack of collaboration and routine as well as documentation-related challenges.

Conclusion

Recommendations include strengthening coherence, adapting digital documentation, establishing an advanced practice nurse (APN) delirium role and improving interprofessional communication. Larger longitudinal studies could subsequently map the dynamics of normalization over time.
