The general nursing training in Germany aims to prepare trainees for complex care situations. Simulation learning using virtual reality (VR) could be an effective method to increase the self-efficacy of nursing students.
AimThe aim of this paper is to examine the current state of the literature on the impact of VR simulation in the nursing field on the self-efficacy of nursing students.
MethodA systematic literature search was conducted adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
ResultsOf the 12 included studies 9 showed significantly positive effects of simulation learning using VR on the self-efficacy of nursing students.
ConclusionThe use of VR could be a valuable addition to other learning methods to support the self-efficacy of nursing students.
