In this article I try to present the different views of liver anatomy and function via the Prometheus myth, ethymology, Galen‘s medical work and that of today‘s conventional medicine and TCM There are interesting similarities between Galen‘s work and today‘s TCM. If, in the Middle Ages, Galen‘s work could have been grasped in its entire dimension of interrelated material, energetic and spiritual qualities, perhaps TEM (Traditional European Medicine) would have emerged from it.
