摘要

With the purpose of accomplishing climatic regionalization, the analysis of temperature and precipitation data was done through the wavelet transform. This analysis seeks to help decision makers to take decisions on predictions by providing more details concerning the information about the temperature and precipitation patterns within the region. Data from temperature and precipitation stations (i.e. Gilgit and Skardu Station) in Gilgit-Baltistan were used and the wavelet transforms were applied to these time series in order to determine zones within the region. Despite the rainfall wavelet power spectra showed to be very similar, the global wavelet spectra of the main frequency components of the temperature and precipitation time series revealed different patterns. A total of 4 temperature and precipitation time series were assessed and their global wavelet spectra, together with the band scale-average time series, can be considered useful for determining the climatic zones within the region.
