摘要

The primary purpose of this study is the development of a hybrid composite by intercalating acid whey into the interlayer space of magadiite. Na-magadiite was synthesized hydrothermally in a NaOH solution, and the successful intercalation was confirmed using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (SEM/EDS). The innovative intercalated supports were evaluated for removing xylenol orange dye as adsorbents. Kinetic data were employed in the modeling of first and second-order kinetics, whereas adsorption isotherms were studied by the use of the Freundlich and Langmuir models. Kinetic modelling showed that the pseudo-second-order model fit the data well (R2 = 0.999). Additionally, the Langmuir isotherm model accurately represented the experimental data. Based on the dye removal results, the newly synthesized magadiite composite demonstrates high effectiveness as an adsorbent.
