Green and efficient synthesis of amidoalkyl naphthol and amido-alkyl-4-hydroxycoumarin derivatives using Schiff base Cu(II) complex under microwave irradiation

A sustainable one-pot, multi-component strategy has been developed for the synthesis of diverse amidoalkyl naphthol and amido-alkyl-4-hydroxycoumarin derivatives using a Schiff base Cu(II) complex as a recyclable and environmentally benign catalyst in ethanol under microwave irradiation. This protocol offers several advantages, including clean reactions, simple purification, low-cost catalyst availability, and the use of green conditions without hazardous solvents. The method demonstrated broad substrate scope, while the heterogeneous catalyst enabled easy recovery and reuse for up to three consecutive cycles without notable loss of activity. These features minimize waste generation and significantly reduce the environmental footprint. Overall, this work contributes to the advancement of green chemistry by presenting an efficient, eco-friendly, and operationally straightforward approach for the synthesis of bioactive amidoalkyl derivatives.
