摘要

Halogen-free polymers are gaining increased attention across various industries due to their potential for reducing environmental and health risks compared to traditional halogenated polymers. This review critically examines recent innovations in the development of bio-derived polymers and flame-retardant silicones, focusing on their capability to minimize environmental impact while delivering superior performance. Bio-derived polymers, derived from renewable resources, provide eco-friendly alternatives that enhance biodegradability, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and support a circular economy. Flame-retardant silicones, on the other hand, offer safer alternatives to conventional materials, particularly in high-performance applications where fire safety is paramount. Additionally, advanced synthesis techniques such as green chemistry, biocatalysis, and renewable feedstocks are explored for their potential to reduce emissions and waste during production. Despite the progress made in these areas, challenges remain, including optimizing mechanical and thermal properties and improving cost-effectiveness to drive widespread adoption. This review underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to overcome these barriers and fully realize the benefits of halogen-free polymers. Future research directions are proposed, including enhancing material design, improving process efficiencies, and promoting industry-wide adoption of these sustainable materials. The findings of this review hold significance for industries such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, and medical devices, where both regulatory demands and environmental considerations are steering the shift toward greener solutions.
