Purpose of Review <p>Routine laboratory monitoring in dermatologic clinical practice aids in evaluating internal manifestations of skin disease, monitoring for efficacy of treatment, and avoiding adverse effects of systemic medications. However, laboratory orders often include results and values that are poorly understood or under-utilized by dermatologists, leading to unnecessary specialist referrals. This clinical review aims to improve dermatologists’ utilization of the complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, peripheral flow cytometry, and lymphocyte subset panels.</p> Recent Findings <p>Dermatologists play a critical role in screening for abnormalities in laboratory results, as patients with dermatologic disease often have a higher risk of certain underlying pathologies. A comprehensive understanding of laboratory values allows dermatologists to more efficiently narrow a differential diagnosis and determine whether treatment can be managed independently or requires broader interprofessional collaboration.</p> Summary <p>This review serves as both a clinical decision-making resource and a practical educational tool for medical students and dermatology residents, supporting training in laboratory interpretation.</p>
