摘要

Purpose of Review

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic debilitating inflammatory skin disorder that disproportionately affects women of childbearing age. HS disease activity may be impacted by pregnancy and the postpartum period. This review aims to provide the latest updates on considerations in pregnancy and lactation in female patients with HS.

Recent Findings

Though certain HS medications are contraindicated during pregnancy, there are treatments for both mild and moderate-to-severe HS that are considered compatible during pregnancy and lactation. A multidisciplinary approach to HS care during pregnancy and the postpartum period, with both obstetrician-gynecologists and dermatologists involved, is optimal.

Summary

The following article provides an updated review of the compatibility of HS management strategies during pregnancy and lactation, with a particular focus on medication safety.
